PEACE BE WITH YOU, MY LOVE

JOSEPH PATRICK DERRICK
April 05, 1965 - November 02, 2008

"Should you go first and I remain
to walk the road alone,
I'll live in memories garden dear,
with happy days we've known.
In spring I'll wait for roses red,
when faded, the lilacs blue.
In early fall when brown leaves fall,
I'll catch a glimpse of you.
Should you go first and I remain,
for battle to be fought.
Each thing you've touched along the way
will be a hallowed spot.
I'll hear your voice, I'll see your smile,
though blindly I may grope,
The memory of your helping hand
will buoy me on with hope.
Should you go first and I remain,
one thing I'll have you do:
Walk slowly down that long long path,
for soon I'll follow you.
I want to know each step you take,
so I may take the same.
For someday down that lonely road
you'll hear me call your name."
BEYOND THE SUNSET~ Author Unknown

God be with you, Big Guy! And peace and comfort at last! I love you so much and all the memories we had for over 9 years will be cherished in my heart FOREVER...

Oh sweetie, I'm so very sorry. I've been thinking about you so much, wondering how you were holding up under the strain of waiting for this to happen. Please know that, even though we may never meet, I feel a blogging buddy's closeness to you that is very special to me. Perhaps you can do as I did when my best friend died two years ago. Plant a small garden in his memory with the Victorian's symbolic meanings that best depict your feelings for him. And visit his spirit there. I have derived much comfort. And will be here to help you in any way possible.
xoxo, Brenda

There are no words I can think of to say that will ease your pain right now. I am so sorry for your loss; just try to find comfort knowing that he is no longer in pain. The poem was a lovely tribute. I agree with Brenda, a small garden to honor and remember him might help you.

Having buried my son just 4-1/2 years ago, I know all too well the pain and sorrow of losing one loved so well and so long. And yet, I also know the joy and comfort of knowing they suffer no longer, in fact they celebrate in Heaven in a perfect state as they await our arrival.

The poem you selected brought joy along with the tears. We will be together with those we love when we gather in Glory to celebrate in the perfection of the Lord. No infirmities, no disabilities, NO TEARS -- only JOY! I look forward to that day . . .

And yet . . . today I celebrate the little joys all around me which serve to remind me God watches over me. You, my VERY sweet friend, are loved in the world by so many, in the bloggy world by more, and God showers you with an everlasting love. Take heart and know you are loved and prayed for and thought of so fondly in this difficult time.

How I wish you could be here today for a cuppa tea and something sweet to nibble on as we chat away about this and that and everything wonderful about Joe and Andrew and all those who have gone over before us. Naturally we would begin sharing lovingly about all of those right around us that squeeze our hearts of love, and then we would ramble on about those we have never actually met but love just the same! Amazing the seeds of love and friendship that the Lord has sowed into our short lives.

Praise be to God for Joe's deliverance. Praise be to God for the comfort He will supply you at any moment (ask and ye shall receive). And may my friendship across the web (and that of so many like me) provide some small measure of comfort and love to you whenever you need it.

You remain in my prayers without ceasing, sweet friend. You are loved. : ) XOXOXOXOXOXOX ...

Dear Connie,

I am so sorry for your tremendous loss! I will be holding you up in prayer as you learn to live your life without your sweet Joe.

I also love Brenda's idea of planting a garden in his memory.
Why not ask all of your friends and family to contribute seeds to plant it?

My God comfort you during this sad time. Hugs, Chris

I'm going to miss you Joe from talking about sports, life and sharing your mercurial quick with that would leave us in stitches oh so many times. Your passion for life, seeing the humorous side out it, competitive nature and good friendship and love of music can't be replaced as there was only one JOE D.. You'll be sorely missed, but I am glad that you are at peace and no longer in pain. It was way to soon for you to go, but nobody would want you to have to suffer and we can't control what life holds for us unfortunately, so all we can say is we are richer for having known you, will miss you greatly during our time here and hope to be reunited with you again someday, when our time comes.... To Connie, our heartfelt condolences and at the same time thanks for making Joe's last days as comfortable and peaceful as possible. You were a wonderful help to him at the worst time of his life and managed to stay composed despite all of the emotions involved in such a horrible experience, so we thank and commend you at the same time for being there with our friend at the end and wish you the best.

Most loving God, You know the pain and sorrow of death; mercifully hear our prayer for those who mourn the death of their beloved. The nights are lonely and the days are too long. Comfort them and bring an end to the days of tears. Bless them and bring an end to their days of sorrow. Renew them with the joy of life and bring to an end their days of mourning. Let the bond of love which You have for Your people be the foundation of their hope that love never ends and that precious moments with our beloved are forever held dear in our hearts.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen.
Thinking of you,
Virginia
