HAPPY THOUGHTS...

FIRST OF ALL, I'd like to thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of my heart for the great outpour of love, warm thoughts, great support and prayers that you sent our way during these tough times. My hugs and kisses to everyone....oh, how I wished you all lived near me! Life is the same as usual @ Casa Maria... more doctor visits and tests for Joey and for me...work as usual. I did take a full day off from work yesterday just to be with him.

Well, on to some happy notes... Brrrr...it was COLD this morning! FALL is really coming on strong around here. I am always excited for the coming of each season although I must admit that DECEMBER is my all time favorite. The fall wreath is hung and the house has been dotted with artificial pumpkins. Yesterday, Joe insisted that I could get 3 pots of mums as he has a roll of quarters that he'd like to give to me and so I did...wasn't that so sweet of him? I shall take his coins and that'll make me $10.00 richer, hah!

I have noticed around the blogland that a lot of you including myself have started working on a project or two that are normally set aside for cooler weather. I picked up my knitting needles again and am currently working on a simple scarf. One night, I was bored at work and AHA... why don't I teach myself how to knit? After countless of tutorials from the internet, I was so proud to say that I was never too old to learn a new trick...

I recently picked up an old bible from Saver's and I found this beautiful quote handwritten on one of the endpapers and I thought I shall share it with you...
"All the water in the world cannot sink a ship unless it gets inside it. All the sorrow in the world cannot sink a person unless it gets inside the mind. If your mind is so full of good thoughts, and so full of good thoughts for others there won't be any room for sorrow and self-pity to get in".
- Mary Pickford

as always connie let me know if you need anything at all. I'm glad to hear joe is going for test, medicine can suck sometimes, but maybe they can fix this for him.
or at least make him feel a little better.

What a beautiful, insightful quote. It's so much fun to teach us old dogs new tricks. I love to master some craft I've long admired seeing others make. Quilting was one of those passions. Now I can look around me and say, I made those, and feel proud. Thinking of Joe...

What a wonderful quote!... a good one to live by.
I, too taught myself how to knit, Connie. I can only do scarves because they are pretty simple. I have a friend who makes socks, sweaters, and what have you, but I'm proud of what I know for now.

Yes, we are never too old to learn something. I dropped my art class some years ago, and have now gone back to it, at another school and a new teacher. I am learning new stuff with the new teacher.

Hope Joe is feeling much better.

Have a wonderful weekend.

I Connie I just read your last two posts and so sorry that things are rough for you right now. That was so sweet of him to want you to have the mums. I am ready for fall and cooler weather too. I'm getting out my crocheting that I haven't touched all summer this weekend. I wish I were closer too so we could visit. If you need anything I'm as close as email.

And we can learn something new if we just put our minds to it.
Have a great weekend.

Connie,

I am hoping that the Dr's are able to help Joe. I am sorry that he is suffering.

Good to hear that you had some "couple time" and a break from work. The quote is so true. I'm glad it is a comfort for you.

Have a nice weekend, Chris

Hey Connie, I pray all goes well with the Dr appointments and that Joe gets some relief soon.

I love autumn too and these cooler days have a way of putting a spring in my step. And Christmas is my all time favorite season of all!

Thank you for sharing the beautiful words of that quote.

Blessings - Debbie

Hello, sweet friend. You continue in my prayers -- both of you.

Fall is not showing up here yet; and I am REALLY looking forward to it!

I saw one red leaf on the virginia creeper and an acorn hit me, but that's about it. Oh, Rachel came in with a bowlful of pears. Other than that ... nothing.

I long to be simmering soups and baking bread. Ah well ... we shall simply dine out of doors tonight and enjoy our endless summer.

I can't wait to see your house all decorated for Christmas. Blogs will make house tours a world-wide event. : )

Have a sweet and winsome day. XO!

Hi, Connie. Good to see an update from you. There is certainly some pleasure in working on a project, isn't there? And how cool you were able to pick up knitting so quickly.

And its nice that fall is coming to parts of the coutnry (not here yet, in So.Cal, I fear!) Hoping Joe is maintaining - I'm glad he's going for tests.

best to you.

Hi, Connie

You asked me about kudzu, which I mentioned recently in my blog. Here is a picture Kudzu on Flickr

It is a very invasive vine that was brought to the US from Japan in the 1920s, maybe 1930s, for erosion control. It has almost taken over some rural areas of the south. Farmers battle it continously to keep it out of their fields and off their houses!
